The incident took place last Wednesday. Firefighters from the station in Tournus – a town with a population of 5,500 – in Saône-et-Loire (71) were called out to an emergency rescue operation in the evening. A few minutes later, the team was reinforced by the SAMU.
Once the victim had been stabilised, the firefighters carried them on a stretcher to the ambulance. To their surprise, the ambulance was no longer in front of the house, but 60 metres further down the road, embedded in a wall.
A complaint has been lodged
"Everything suggests that the vehicle has been used", explains Lieutenant-Colonel Demousseau, head of communications at SDIS 71, ruling out the possibility of human error or a technical fault.
Describing the incident as an “act of malice”, the officer stated that a complaint had been lodged with the National Gendarmerie. According to our information, the ambulance will be out of service for at least a fortnight.
