The night shift at Orléans-Saran prison was very difficult on Monday evening, according to our colleagues atActuPenit.
A fire did indeed break out at around 8 pm in a cell in the remand centre. Despite the efforts of prison officers and firefighters from SDIS 45, the toll is heavy.
One dead and one injured
Two inmates were in the cell where the fire broke out. The first died and the second was taken by the emergency services to the nearest hospital
In order to allow the emergency services to carry out their work and to ensure their safety, some of the inmates at this remand centre were moved to the exercise yard.
