The fire station in L’Hôpital, a small town in the Moselle department, was burgled twice in the space of just 15 days. The incidents were reported by the local press on Wednesday, although they took place back in late December.

According to our information, confirmed by security sources, two burglaries took place at this barracks. The first occurred on the night of Saturday 15 December. The door to the centre commander’s office was forced open, as was the door to the staff social club, where the safe was torn from the wall and stolen, containing over 8,000 euros. This sum represented the total proceeds from this year’s calendar sales.

The safe was found empty

Fifteen days later, on 29 December to be precise, the burglars struck again. This time, they stole a television and a computer used for training young firefighters.

An investigation has been launched. The safe was indeed found a few days later, but it was empty. "We’re sickened and demoralised," says the firefighter. "I’ve been at the station for thirty-five years and I’d never had to deal with a break-in before. There’s no respect left…" tells our colleagues at the Lorraine Republican, Lieutenant Zimmermann, head of the centre.
