A man stole an ambulance from the Paris Fire Brigade during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to our colleagues at the Parisian. According to our information, the ambulance’s lights were on whilst the three soldiers were taking a casualty to the hospital’s A&E department.
As he fled, the man, aged 34, tore down the barrier at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, located in Paris’s 13th arrondissement.
The BAC apprehends the individual
Very quickly, all police stations in the Paris region were alerted to the incident. The fugitive was spotted and apprehended by a patrol from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) in Vitry-sur-Seine.
The vehicle was returned to the fire brigade, but it had been damaged. The man has been taken into police custody. He will have to undergo a psychiatric assessment ordered by the public prosecutor before appearing in court to answer for his actions.
