Whilst the results of the latest recruitment exams for professional firefighters were announced a few weeks ago, the CGT SDIS has referred the matter to Michel Marquer, the national director of the fire service. The trade union body fears the worst.
"Dozens of vacancies that had not been planned for when the competitive examinations were organised have been announced", the CGT laments in its letter, expressing concern about a shortage of successful candidates and calling for a review of the number of successful candidates on the lists as at 1 June.
He added, "We believe it is already time to consider whether a corporal recruitment exam might be needed in 2020, in order to limit the use of contract staff, as was the case in 2018 due to a lack of successful candidates.".
