A prison officer at Angers Remand Centre had his throat slit this Friday afternoon, according to our colleagues atActuPenit.
According to the same source, an inmate produced a razor blade and slashed the guard’s throat over a length of several centimetres. Firefighters and an ambulance crew attended the scene to administer first aid to the guard, who was lying in a pool of blood. A blood transfusion was required at the scene.
The trade unions claim that the prisoner is already serving a sentence for similar offences and are calling for him to be transferred to a higher-security facility. More information to follow…
