A volunteer firefighter stationed at the Béziers fire station, in the Hérault department, has been suspended from duty by the management of the SDIS 34. The latter has been arrested, charged and remanded in custody, according to information from our colleagues at Metro.

He is accused of deliberately vandalising toll station No. 34 (Agde-Pézenas) on the A9 motorway, along with 46 other ‘yellow vests’. The incident took place last December. He has been clearly identified by the investigators.

He is asking to be released

According to the same source, he applied to the Court of Appeal for provisional release, but his application was rejected. He is expected to submit a new application for release in the coming weeks. This application will be considered by the Investigating Chamber.

Auditor-General Éric Flores, Director of the SDIS 34, along with Kléber Mesquida, President of the Hérault Departmental Council, condemn these acts in the strongest possible terms "unacceptable and intolerable".
