In May 2018, he had run over two children whilst driving a tractor under the influence of alcohol. A young firefighter from Paris was sentenced on Wednesday in Rodez to six years’ imprisonment, according to our colleagues at AFP, as reported by BFMTV.
The young man, who had been taken into police custody and then remanded in custody following the fatal accident, has been kept in custody and his driving licence has been revoked, said the public prosecutor for Rodez, Olivier Naboulet, who on Wednesday sought a seven-year prison sentence.

In May 2018, the man, then aged 27, had taken a bend too quickly whilst driving a tractor pulling an overloaded trailer in the Montbazens area, some 40 kilometres north-west of Rodez. He knocked down two children, aged 7 and 8, who were riding their bikes.
The judicial investigation had revealed that this young firefighter, who had previously been convicted of drink-driving in 2011 in Aveyron – where he has family ties – had a blood alcohol level of “nearly 2 g of alcohol per 100 ml of blood” at the time of the accident, according to the Rodez Crown Prosecution Service.
