On Thursday 7 March, the young firefighters from the Gard visited the Nîmes-Garons Civil Protection Air Unit.
The JSPs and activity leaders were in awe...
It was an emotional visit for both the young firefighters and their leaders, who were also in awe of the water cannons.
The day began with a talk on the civil protection air base and its role in fighting forest fires, followed by a tour of the premises, not to mention a surprise visit from the airport’s SSLIA fire brigade.
The JSPs took a very close look at the famous Canadair and the Tracker – the latter being less well-known but just as spectacular. The young people were also able to sit in the pilots’ seats of both aircraft.
The morning then drew to a close with a group photo.
