A woman has been taken into police custody after attempting to steal a fire engine

A 39-year-old woman is currently in police custody at the Nantes police station after attempting to steal a fire engine on Tuesday evening from the grounds of the Saint-Herblain fire station (44), reports France Bleu Loire-Atlantique. According to a source at the newspaper, the woman is said to be: "a fan of uniforms".

According to the local police, she is said to have got behind the wheel and started the van, the keys to which were still in the ignition, ready to set off on a call-out. Her blood alcohol level was 1.04 mg per litre of exhaled air, equivalent to 2.38 g per litre of blood, at the time of the incident.

According to the police station, this is not in fact the first time that this woman, who is in her late thirties, has attempted to steal a fire engine.
