In a telegram sent on 29 March to the civil and public security forces, Christophe Castaner, the Minister for the Interior, calls for new measures to be put in place before the end of the month.
In this two-page document, the Minister hopes that the various stakeholders, “ analyses the local effectiveness of the measures implemented ”, before ordering working meetings to be held at each security headquarters.
Inevitably, the heads of the fire and rescue services are involved. The same applies to the heads of the emergency medical services.
Preliminary discussions and immediate measures
Christophe Castaner has requested that, as a preliminary step, the chairmen of the boards of directors and the directors of the SDISs meet with the Health, Safety and Working Conditions Committee (CHSCT) and the representatives of the volunteer fire brigades (SPV), who are members of the Departmental Advisory Committee for Volunteer Fire Brigades (CCDSPV).
In his letter, he adds: “In the event of attending to a person who poses a proven threat to the safety of firefighters, or of transporting a person who has been arrested to a hospital, the incident commander and the head of the police crew or gendarmerie patrol must always consult with one another ”.
This consultation should enable measures to be taken to ensure the safety of everyone involved; these may include one or more members of the security forces boarding the VSAV during the journey, in addition to an escort provided by a police or gendarmerie vehicle.
