Devastating fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris

A fire broke out on Monday evening at around 6.20 pm at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which is “potentially linked” to renovation work on the building, according to the Paris Fire Brigade.

The fire broke out in the attic of the cathedral, Europe’s most visited historic monument, they told our colleagues at BFMTV. According to a spokesperson for Notre-Dame, the fire is believed to have broken out at around 6.50 pm. The spire has collapsed.

According to our information, the fire service has set up a very large safety perimeter. Significant resources have been deployed, including four large ladders and two aerial platforms.
