A police captain with the Public Security Service, based at the Hérault departmental police headquarters at Montpellier Central Police Station, was found dead from a gunshot wound on Thursday morning in her office. Her service weapon was lying next to her body when her colleagues made the grim discovery.
She was in her forties and the mother of two children. The public prosecutor for Montpellier is at the scene. The theory that her death was intentional is being treated as the most likely explanation, and a post-mortem has been ordered.
