A Private First Class in the Army died on Tuesday 21 May 2019; his death was caused by injuries sustained in an accident involving his armoured reconnaissance vehicle whilst on a mission in Lebanon last year.
A volunteer soldier since 2 August 2016, 23-year-old Private First Class Erwan POTIER was posted to the 501st Tank Regiment in Mourmelon-le-Grand.
Following his accident, he was rushed to the Percy military hospital in Clamart.
He had quickly made a name for himself within his regiment thanks to his enthusiasm and determination.
His qualities have, in particular, earned him numerous military honours: the Overseas Service Medal with the ‘Lebanon’ bar, the Military Territorial Defence Medal, the Bronze National Defence Medal (bronze class) with the ‘Foreign Assistance Missions’ and ‘Armoured Cavalry’ bars, the UN Medal, the Wounded Servicemen’s Medal, the Lebanese Wounded Servicemen’s Medal, the Cross of Military Valour with a bronze star, the Title of National Recognition, the Combatant’s Cross and the Military Medal.
His regiment will pay tribute to him this Wednesday, 29 May.
