Last Friday, the Dijon Criminal Court sentenced a man for assaulting firefighters whilst they were on duty. The man was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, ten months’ suspended sentence and a probation order. He will have to pay €250 in damages to the three firefighters and €400 to the one who was struck.
Blows, insults and spitting
The events date back to 9 May this year, during an operation, according to our colleagues at France Bleu. Four firefighters had been insulted by the defendant, who had also spat at them. Far from calming down, the attacker had also punched one of the firefighters.
On social media, the Côte-d’Or Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) welcomed this court ruling.
