20 MINUTES. The incident took place during the night between Saturday and Sunday in Combourg (Ille-et-Vilaine), north of Rennes. Hearing fireworks being set off near the village hall, a firefighter on call went to the scene to remind people of the safety guidelines they must follow, reports France Bleu Armorique. But when he arrived at the scene, he was immediately accosted, insulted and violently beaten by the group of four young men.

The firefighter managed to escape, and the gendarmes were then called in as reinforcements. But the two gendarmes were met with the same violent reaction, and one of them had to use a taser to subdue the four people.

A complaint has been lodged

The military personnel left the scene without managing to apprehend the perpetrators, who fled. A complaint has been lodged for assault, and the firefighter has been given a five-day sick note, according to Ouest-France.

In a statement, Jean-Luc Chenut, President of the Department and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SDIS 35, “ condemns this serious act in the strongest possible terms and expresses the hope that the perpetrators will be swiftly identified, brought to justice and punished with the full severity required ”.
