According to a report from our colleagues at *L’Est Républicain*, on Wednesday, shortly before 4.00 pm, the Haute-Saône Emergency Response Centre (CTA), which handles emergency calls across the department, was called out to a suspected drowning at Lake Vesoul-Vaivre.
According to the witness’s account, a whitish shape was floating on the surface of the water, resembling a lifeless body. The Vesoul fire brigade immediately rushed to the scene with a team of divers. After launching a motorboat, the divers made their way to the specified location, near Île aux Oiseaux.

There, the emergency services discovered only the carcass of a huge carp, which is believed to have caused the mix-up. Police officers from Vesoul, along with a team from the SAMU, also attended the scene.
