A fire broke out early on Saturday 22 June in a residential block on Rue de Nemours, in Paris’s 11th arrondissement. Three people have died, Secours Info has learnt, according to information obtained by franceinfo from the Paris Fire Brigade. One person is also in a serious condition, and around thirty others have suffered minor injuries.

It was in a stairwell of this block of flats, built in the 1970s and 1980s, that the fire broke out at around 5 o’clock, before spreading to a Turkish bath and a restaurant. Two of the three victims were "charred", The third (a woman) threw herself out of the window.

By 7.30 am, the fire brigade had managed to bring the fire under control, but it has not yet been fully extinguished. The 200 firefighters deployed at the scene had to use ladders to carry out around fifteen rescues.
