Forest fires: ‘very severe’ risk in two departments this Saturday

Following a very busy day for the fire service, the risk of forest fires is particularly high in the Gard, the Vaucluse, the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Var.

"The toll from yesterday’s fires in the Gard is devastating, just as we are only just beginning the fire-fighting season" forest fires" a fire officer reports. In total, more than 50 fires were recorded yesterday in the Gard, and 500 hectares were destroyed.

"Very severe" risk in two departments

According to a map published by Météo France exclusively for the fire service, the east of the Gard and the south of the Var are at “very severe” risk this Saturday. Many other departments contain areas at “severe” risk, notably the Aude, Hérault, Vaucluse and Pyrénées-Orientales.

It is advisable to exercise caution and behave responsibly in the face of ever-increasing risks.
