A fire has been reported between Tautavel and Case-de-Pêne, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. According to several witnesses, thick smoke is visible. Please do not go to the scene.
6.54 pm - The fire has been put out. The combined efforts of all the firefighters proved effective.
3.21 pm - According to witnesses, the fire is spreading unchecked.
3.02 pm - Air support from the Civil Protection Service has been requested. A forest fire response unit (GIFF) has also been requested to assist the two GIFFs already on site. Each unit comprises 18 firefighters.

2.55 pm - At least eight lorries specialised in fighting forest fires are heading to the scene.
2.49 pm - The SDIS 66 fire brigade has been alerted. Several resources have been deployed.
