According to our colleagues atMontpellier News, a firefighter from the Béziers fire station took his own life on Saturday, leaving his colleagues and the SDIS 34 family in deep sorrow.
The Hérault’s ‘firefighters’ are in shock, led by the Comptroller-General, Éric Florès, Director of SDIS 34.

Medical and Psychological Support Unit
An autopsy has been ordered by the public prosecutor in Béziers and an investigation is under way at the urban security unit of the Béziers police station to determine the circumstances that led this Béziers firefighter to take this terrible action. The firefighter left a letter.
A medical and psychological support team was set up on Saturday at the Béziers fire station, as well as within the firefighter’s family.
Sadness and compassion
In a message posted on social media, Kléber Mesquida, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SDIS 34 and President of the Hérault Department, the Comptroller-General Éric Florès, Director of SDIS 34, and all staff – professional firefighters, volunteers and technical staff – express their sympathy and grief following the death of this off-duty firefighter.
