A fire is currently burning in Millas, in the Pyrénées-Orientales (66). A large plume of smoke is visible.

9.00 pm - The fire is still burning. 200 firefighters have been deployed to the scene, along with thirty gendarmes.

8.00 pm - A woman in her sixties, distraught over the safety of her pets, suffered a heart attack. Despite being resuscitated at the scene of the fire by the fire brigade, she died a few hours later at Perpignan Hospital.

7.00 pm - Nearly 80 hectares have been burnt. Firefighters from SDIS 66 remain out in force, supported by three Canadair aircraft from the Civil Protection service. Forest fire response teams have been deployed. The fire continues to spread, despite the tireless efforts of the firefighters.

4.00 pm - The fire is still burning and is very intense.

3.00 pm - Several ground-based emergency services have been alerted and are heading to the scene. The fire is still burning. Please remain vigilant and ensure that emergency services have unhindered access.

2.50 pm - The water-bombing helicopter, which had previously been deployed in Saint-André, has been diverted to this fire. The fire is visible from a great distance and is threatening homes.
