According to a report from our colleagues at Metro, whilst responding to a traffic accident on the A9 motorway, the driver involved in the accident verbally and physically assaulted the Lunel fire brigade crew, as well as the gendarmerie patrol from the Gallargues-le-Montueux platoon who were also at the scene.
“The driver, who was particularly agitated and under the influence of alcohol, had kicked the car door, injuring one of the non-commissioned officers who was providing assistance on the head, and two gendarmes were assaulted during the arrest.”, the SDIS 34 revealed on Monday.
In its judgement, the Montpellier Criminal Court sentenced the repeat offender to three years’ imprisonment without parole; as regards damages, the defendant was ordered to pay €1,500 to the crew members for insulting public officials and threatening a firefighter, and to pay a symbolic €1 to SDIS 34
