A fire brigade operation went very wrong on Wednesday 24th in Haute-Savoie, according to our colleagues at France 3.
Having arrived at around 7.30 pm to rescue two walkers in the town of Chaumont, they, along with the people they were about to assist, were seriously injured.
During the helicopter rescue operation, a rotor blade on the Dragon 74 helicopter struck a tree branch, which snapped and fell onto the group.
The four victims were taken to Annecy General Hospital.
Three of them are in a state of absolute emergency and one is in a state of relative emergency.
