More than 600 firefighters are battling blazes in the south of France this Tuesday evening

Since early Tuesday afternoon, the Gard fire service has been dealing with a major fire which broke out in the commune of Générac, a few minutes’ drive south of Nîmes, in the Gard department. By 11.00 pm, 465 men and women had been mobilised. More than 300 hectares had been devastated and the fire was still out of control, according to the latest update issued shortly before 11 pm.

80 kilometres away, another fire is causing serious concern for the fire service. According to our information, confirmed by an officer from SDIS 34, no fewer than 140 firefighters are currently deployed in the commune of Montbazin, near Montpellier (Hérault). The fire, which is particularly fierce, is spreading unchecked. Four houses have been affected.
