A fire has been reported in the commune of Vialas in the department of Lozère.

The fire brigade is on its way. Several fire engines are heading to the scene

Thursday, 10.45 am: The fire was brought under control in the middle of the night; 15 hectares of vegetation have been burnt. Two GIFF teams, one supply unit, two Canadair aircraft and one Dash aircraft were deployed to tackle the fire. Two GIFF units will remain at the scene throughout the day to prevent the fire from reigniting.

11.36 pm: Fire still burning; 12 hectares of vegetation burnt

5.56 pm: The fire has spread across 8 hectares of vegetation.

4.10 pm: Several hundred hectares are under threat. The fire is being fanned by a southerly wind

4.00 pm: The fire is currently located near the Berthel cross; 5 hectares of vegetation have been burnt. Civil Protection’s aerial resources are on the scene with three Canadair aircraft.

15.50: The plume of smoke from the fire is visible from Générac in the Gard department
