A fire has been reported in the commune of Générac in the south of the Gard department. At this stage, it is not possible to say for certain whether this is a flare-up of the previous fire.

This could be a new outbreak a few kilometres from the first incident, on Route de Franquevaux, but the information has not yet been confirmed.

A large number of ground forces are on the move, supported by air cover. Further movements have also been reported in the surrounding area, particularly between Vauvert and Beauvoisin.

9.54 pm: Fire brought under control; 300 hectares of vegetation burnt.

7.11 pm: Over 150 hectares of vegetation have been burnt, and the fire is still burning.

5.30 pm: We have received some terrible news: a Civil Protection water-bombing aircraft has crashed whilst carrying out water drops on the fire. The Tracker 22 has crashed into the fire.

5.10 pm: 88 hectares of vegetation burnt, 1 person slightly injured

16.22: Fire crews from outside the department have been sent as reinforcements to the fire in Générac

2.54 pm: 10 hectares of vegetation burnt

Update 2.45 pm: at least two departures confirmed between Vauvert, Beauvoisin and Générac

Further information to follow.
