Two people suspected of being responsible for the fire in Générac (Gard) – which on Friday destroyed more than 300 hectares of forest and claimed the life of a water-bombing pilot – have been taken into police custody, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner announced on Saturday. They have since been released.
“Yesterday, at the time of the second fire in Générac, three people were reported as possible arsonists: two people were arrested and evidence from the investigation suggests that they may be responsible.”, the minister said during a press conference at the civil defence air base in Nîmes.
