A firefighter from SDIS 59 was attacked on Monday evening whilst responding to a call in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (near Lille, in the Nord department) to assist a 24-year-old man who was attempting to throw himself out of a window.

As soon as he arrived on the scene, one of the paramedics stepped in between the complainant and the victim to prevent the situation from escalating. However, the victim, who was extremely annoyed, ended up kicking the firefighter several times.

Three attacks in the space of just a few days

The firefighter sustained injuries to his face and chest. A complaint is to be lodged this Tuesday against the man they helped when he was in distress, before taking him to hospital. In the space of a few days, firefighters in the North have been the victims of three attacks. This is a worrying situation.
