The incident took place during the night between Friday and Saturday. According to our colleagues at theAFP, firefighters from Aix-en-Provence, who were on call in a high-risk neighbourhood, had their ambulance stolen whilst they were attempting to resuscitate a man suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Despite the efforts of the paramedics, the man in his eighties sadly passed away. The Bouches-du-Rhône Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS), headed by Colonel Grégory Allione, has announced that it will be filing a complaint.
The emergency and victim assistance vehicle (VSAV) was found a few metres further on, wedged between a wall and a car, with one side torn off.
