The Minister for the Interior, Christophe Castaner, announced on Tuesday via his Twitter account that six rescue workers from the French Civil Protection service were setting off for the Amazon.
Once there, they will use their expertise to help tackle the fierce fires that have already ravaged several thousand hectares. They will also assess whether it is necessary to deploy a further detachment of 40 military personnel.
