🔥 A major fire is currently raging in the Côte d’Or department, in the commune of Plombières-lès-Dijon
Wednesday 4 September – 4.00 pm: Although the fire flared up again in some places during the afternoon, it was quickly brought under control. Seventeen firefighters remain at the scene to ensure there are no further hotspots. The ONF and the gendarmerie were also at the scene to carry out initial assessments. 20 hectares were burnt.
Wednesday 4 September – 12.00: The fire has been out for a few hours, but there is still a painstaking task ahead for the thirty or so firefighters still on site. They must ensure there are no remaining hotspots, searching for them – particularly in the stumps – and then dousing them. “It’s a real painstaking task that will take the whole day,” says Lieutenant-Colonel Roy of the SDIS.
Wednesday 4 September – 7.34 am:
The forest fire, which broke out in Plombières-lès-Dijon on Tuesday shortly after 6 pm, was still being brought under control on Wednesday morning. Between 40 and 50 firefighters are still at the scene. According to SDIS21, it is not yet clear how long the operation will take.
At the height of the operation, 70 firefighters were battling the blaze. No one was injured.
Between 15 and 20 hectares have gone up in smoke.
Traffic on the SNCF lines resumed at around 3.30 am; however, the SNCF has reported on its Twitter account, @TER_BFC_Trafic, that there are disruptions to the TER network in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
9.00 pm: At the request of the fire service, the SNCF has suspended train services in this area; several neighbourhoods are without electricity
