A bushfire is currently burning in the town of Banyuls-sur-Mer in the Pyrénées-Orientales department.
There are winds, at times very strong, in the area affected by the flames.
10.30 am: The area destroyed by the fire is currently estimated at 33 hectares; the situation is generally under control. The four Pelicans have been withdrawn after carrying out eight drops. The Occitanie 3 unit has been deployed.
The left-hand sector of the fire is in a favourable position; the right-hand sector is being monitored by the tactical fire teams.
10.00 am: The Occitanie3 column, having been deployed at 03:00 to the fire at Conques-sur-Orbiel and following a brief rest, has just been sent to assist in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Four Canadair aircraft and one Dash aircraft from the Civil Defence have arrived at the scene.
9.30 am: The fire has spread across 30 hectares of vegetation; one house has been damaged by the flames and a garage has been destroyed. The fire is still burning, and a request for aerial and ground reinforcements has been made.
