Firefighters in Lot-et-Garonne are mourning their colleague, Guillaume Massias, aged 42, a captain in the prevention department of the SDIS’s operations, prevention and forecasting unit in Foulayronnes. He was killed in a fatal road accident on Friday, in the early afternoon, according to our colleagues at the Actu.fr website.
He was killed in a head-on collision with a heavy goods vehicle as he was coming out of a bend on the RN21 in the town of Moirax. The cause of this tragic accident remains unknown.
The Lot-et-Garonne Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 47) has issued the following statement: “On Friday 6 September 2019, at around 11.45 am, Captain Guillaume Massias was involved in a road traffic accident on the RN21 in the town of Moirax. Following an extremely violent collision with a heavy goods vehicle, and despite resuscitation attempts lasting nearly an hour, Captain Guillaume Massias died whilst on duty at the age of 42.” He was the father of two children.
