The incident took place during the night between Saturday and Sunday at Perpignan. Whilst responding to a call to assist a person in distress on Rue de la Lanterne, in the Saint-Mathieu neighbourhood, the crew of a fire service ambulance were attacked.
According to information reported on the Facebook page According to the CGT SDIS 66 trade union, one of the firefighters – a volunteer sergeant stationed at the main fire station in north Perpignan – was headbutted by the victim he had come to rescue. He is reported to have been struck in the lower part of his face.
According to the same source, the SDIS 66 officer was examined by a doctor and was prescribed two days’ total incapacity for work (ITT). A complaint has been lodged.
