According to a report published by our colleagues at 20 Minutes, four firefighters who were responding to a motorbike accident were assaulted on Sunday morning in Epiniac.

Appearing for summary trial before the Saint-Malo Criminal Court, a 46-year-old man and his nephew were sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment, six of which were suspended, for assaulting four firefighters, reports Ouest-France.

The incident took place on Sunday morning in the town of Epiniac (Ille-et-Vilaine). Called out to a minor motorbike accident, the firefighters were attacked by the two victims, aged 17 and 21. The father of one of them, who had been called in for backup, also got involved.

Four firefighters injured

After insulting the firefighters and threatening them with death, the three individuals violently assaulted them before attacking the emergency vehicle. Four firefighters were injured, and one of them was prescribed seven days’ sick leave. The three suspects were arrested shortly after the incident.

During the hearing, both defendants admitted the charges, citing alcohol as an excuse for the violence. The minor, meanwhile, will appear before a juvenile court judge at a later date
