ARTICLE FROM TELEGRAM. Parts of Australia are currently being ravaged by bushfires. And some species could pay a heavy price.

When, amidst the bushfires in Australia, Sarah Price, a volunteer, found a frightened baby kangaroo that was still miraculously alive in the pouch of its dying mother, it seemed only natural to her to name it ‘Chance’.

The two marsupials had survived the fires ravaging the south and east of the country, but a few hours later, the mother died as a result of extreme stress.

She is one of more than a billion animals that have perished since these fires began in September.

‘Chance’, for her part, is slowly recovering. She is eating and drinking regularly after being placed in a bag in a dark room.
