LATEST NEWS. A lieutenant-colonel in the fire service was found dead during the night between Friday and Saturday, whilst he was inside the Essonne SDIS departmental training centre. Investigators are treating suicide as the most likely cause, but no other possibilities are being ruled out. An investigation has been launched and entrusted to the National Gendarmerie.
“It’s a traumatic experience for all the firefighters in Essonne,” one of them told our colleagues at the Parisian, Dominique Echaroux, chairman of the Essonne Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS). “We are all in mourning; we mourn the loss of a great professional. We will pay tribute to him.”
