Due to the drought and the lack of rainfall in recent weeks, the risk of forest fires has increased in Morbihan. The Morbihan Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) is urging the public to exercise the utmost caution.
Indeed, the SDIS has been alerted by several centre managers from various parts of the department to the risk of forest fires. Already, in the space of a week, Firefighters in Morbihan have been called out to tackle wildfires.
In the context of the health crisis, it is important that the fire service focuses its efforts on public health. We urge all residents of Morbihan to be cautious and to follow the safety guidelines: do not throw your cigarette ends or cigarettes into the countryside (particularly out of car windows); do not light a fire, barbecue or any other open flame within 200 metres of forests, scrubland or heathland; familiarise yourself with evacuation routes and shelters; and keep yourself informed about the risk of forest fires. It is also reminded that the open-air burning of waste, plant matter and other materials is prohibited by law.
