Due to adverse weather conditions, particularly strong winds and high temperatures, the risk of wildfires is currently very high in the Pyrénées-Orientales.

That is why the Southern Interministerial Defence and Security Zone Headquarters (EMIZ) has pre-positioned a Super Puma H225 at Perpignan-Rivesaltes Airport.

The aircraft is configured as a heavy water bomber (HBEL) and is fitted with a Bambi Bucket with a capacity of 4,000 litres of water, suspended from a 20-metre sling.
