A fire has been burning since Monday 18 July this afternoon in the commune of Mulsanne in the Sarthe department.
The fire brigade is on the scene, backed up by crews from neighbouring districts and a water cannon from the civil protection service.
As things stand on Tuesday 19 July, the fire has split into two separate blazes:
- An initial fire which burned across 85 hectares of vegetation and has been under control since this morning.
- A second fire, which is still spreading unchecked and has already burnt 15 hectares
