A volunteer fire officer, station commander at the Saint-Lyphard fire station in Loire-Atlantique, died on Friday whilst on duty.
According to our information, Pascal Allaire was battling a field fire when he suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite first aid being administered by his colleagues, assisted by a SAMU medical team, he died shortly afterwards at Saint-Nazaire Hospital.
A firefighter since the age of 16
Married with children, this officer joined the fire service at the age of 16. He rose through the ranks, from Guérande to Saint-Lyphard, eventually becoming station commander and, more recently, volunteer liaison officer at SDIS 44.
"We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of the St-Lyphard station commander whilst responding to a field fire. A sudden loss", Grégory Allione, president of the National Federation of French Firefighters (FNSPF), responded.
