Since 11.30 pm on Tuesday 9 August, firefighters have been battling a blaze that broke out in the communes of Cernon and Vescles, on the border of the Ain department. As of 11 am on Wednesday, the fire has still not been brought under control. The large plume of smoke is visible for kilometres around Lake Vouglans and throughout the Ain Valley.
According to our sources, the fire is raging this Wednesday afternoon. No fewer than 40 hectares have been destroyed by the flames. More information to follow...
