The fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon in Saint-Magne has, as of now, burnt 7,400 hectares of forest.
Although the fire did not spread significantly overnight, weather conditions – rising temperatures and falling humidity – give cause for concern that today will see a very high risk of new fires breaking out.
Significant work to contain the fire was carried out yesterday and is playing an active part in the fire-fighting efforts.
1,100 firefighters are on the scene, supported by reinforcements from Germany, Romania and Greece.
Later today, they will be joined by firefighters from Poland, Austria and Italy.
