Four wildfires have been burning since 12.30 pm near Ménesplet, at a place called La Fond du Cros, in the Dordogne-Périgord department.
The emergency services are on the scene.
FOLLOW-UP :
-6.00 pm: The fire is still burning and has spread across around twenty hectares. Reinforcements from Charente and Gironde are on the scene.
20 homes were evacuated by the gendarmerie as a precautionary measure.
-2.30 pm: A second heavy water-bombing helicopter has arrived. Homes have been evacuated as a precaution.
-2.00 pm: An HBEL is arriving in the area
-12.30 pm: Four fires broke out along the road at a place called La Fond du Cros.
