The PUMA Bravo heavy water-bombing helicopter, one of ten helicopters chartered by the Civil Protection Agency to bolster the country’s forest fire-fighting capabilities, has taken up its summer base in Jonzac (17).

Every day, an AERO officer from the SDIS 17, 19 and 24 is on board to set objectives and liaise with ground operations.

With this new facility, the Civil Protection Agency hopes to be better able to monitor and combat forest fires, which, unfortunately, have become increasingly frequent in recent years.
