An important fire broke out at around 11.45 am on Wednesday 5 July, near the Grand Narbonne private hospital in Montredon-des-Corbières. Reinforcements dispatched from the Pyrénées-Orientales and Hérault departments are expected to arrive at the scene.

Reports suggest that the fire is situated between Narbonne and Bizanet, along the D613, and that it has spread to an area that had already been affected by a fire several years ago. At least 84 hectares have been ravaged, according to a new update released by the SDIS of theAude at 4 pm.

What caused the fire in Montredon-des-Corbières (Aude)?

The suspected cause of the fire is believed to be tree-pruning carried out beneath a high-voltage power line, which is thought to have caused sparks.
