Numerous fires have been reported in the Landes department since this morning, mainly due to lightning strikes that occurred last night. A large number of firefighters from SDIS 40 are on the scene.

5.00 pm - All the fires are under control and the situation is looking positive.
1.30 pm - Latest update at 1.30 pm:
Luglon local authority: 41 hectares covered, fire brought under control.
Beylongue local authority: 13 hectares, flooding currently underway.
Begaar local authority: 2 hectares, flooding currently underway.
12.00 pm - According to the latest figures, the fire in the municipality of Luglon is thought to have spread across between 40 and 50 hectares so far.
11.00 am - In the commune of Luglon, 20 hectares are reportedly on fire; three fire engines, including one heavy-duty vehicle, supported by around 100 firefighters from SDIS 40, are at the scene.
In Beylongue, the fire has been brought under control. It is estimated to have burnt an area of around 15 hectares.
As far as Begaar is concerned, the fire has been brought under control; it has so far spread across 2 hectares.
As for Léon, the fire has also been brought under control; it has so far spread across 6 hectares.
10.00 am - The municipalities of Luglon, Beylongue, Léon and Begaar are reportedly affected by forest fires. National aerial resources from the Civil Protection service are on the ground.
