A forest fire tanker overturns in Corsica; 4 people injured

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries

The four crew members were quickly attended to by the emergency services. Three of them were taken to Corte General Hospital, whilst the fourth was taken to Bastia Hospital. According to initial reports, their condition is not a cause for concern.

The accident is thought to have been caused by a dip in the road, although the exact circumstances have yet to be determined. An investigation is under way to establish the precise causes of this incident.

Ongoing emergency response efforts

Despite this incident, operations to tackle the forest fire are continuing in the area where nearly 1,000 hectares have gone up in smoke. Civil protection teams and the fire service remain on standby to bring the flames under control and secure the area.
