PinnedUpdate from the Landes PrefectureFire Underway in Magescq—Update at 6:00 p.m.
A fire is currently burning between the towns of Magescq and Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, near the RD16. The fire has spread across approximately 20 hectares so far.
100 firefighters and 9 aerial resources—1 Dash, 4 Canadairs, and 4 Air Tractors—are currently deployed to prevent the fire from spreading, along with personnel from the gendarmerie and the national police. Thanks to the massive deployment of resources, the situation is now under control.
The RD 16 has been closed to traffic.
We ask our fellow citizens to avoid the area and to allow emergency and security services to pass unimpeded.
